Funaya
A moment to unwind in the city.
Funaya serves unaju and a mini hitsumabushi set. Unaju comes with eel liver soup, and eel bento boxes are available to take away.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A fragrant, lightly crisped surface and soft, tender flesh are the hallmarks of the unaju at Funaya. Diners who have tried it have noted the aroma of the grilled skin and the way the eel turns tender with each bite.
Unaju comes in Ume, Take and Matsu sizes, all served with eel liver soup. It is a straightforward choice when you want to focus on the eel. For a lighter meal, there is a set with a mini unadon, a small unamaki (eel omelette), eel liver soup, pickles and a smaller serving of rice. The mini hitsumabushi set is another option, served with a small unamaki and pickles. Both sets offer a different way to enjoy eel while keeping the meal modest.
In Ikuno-nishi, Ikuno Ward, the restaurant also offers eel bento boxes to take away. You can choose between sitting down to unaju or enjoying a bento at home.
